Raincoast Education Society is an important Non-Governmental Organization partner with the InFORM project.  Dan Harrison of RES and Peter Shultze are pictured here collecting the first sample of Tofino’s seawater which will be returned to our laboratories for analysis.  Thanks to Dan and Peter for heading out in typical west Vancouver Island fall conditions to get the job done.

Citizen Science Sample Collected For November In Masset, Haida Gwaii BC

Masset Haida Gwaii, BC

InFORM volunteer Kurt headed out to the beach shortly after Haida Gwaii had experienced ~120 kph winds from a significant fall/winter storm.  Haida Gwaii is ~450 miles north of Vancouver and 80 miles west of Prince Rupert and are the most westerly islands in Canada. They have been home for the Haida First Nation for at least 8000 years.  This sample was collected near the village of Masset on the north coast of Haida Gwaii.
